Turkish economy grew by 2.5 percent in the second quarter. The economists expected a growth of 3 percent for this period.
The GDP estimate increased by 78.6 percent in the second quarter compared to the same quarter of last year at current prices and reached TRY 9,95 trillion. The second quarter value of GDP was recorded as USD 308,16 billion in dollar terms at current prices.
Analyzing the activities that make up GDP, in the second quarter of the year compared to last year, other service activities increased by 7.4 percent, construction by 6.5 percent, agriculture and real estate activities by 3.7 percent each, information and communication activities and finance and insurance activities by 3.4 percent each, public administration, education, human health and social work activities by 3.2 percent each, services by 2.9 percent, occupation, administrative and support services activities by 0.6 percent. In the said period, industrial sector activities decreased by 1.8 percent.
Thus, the Turkish economy has grown for 16 consecutive quarters after the second quarter of 2020, when Covid-19 pandemic measures were implemented.
